Doggie Copilot Refuses to Sleep on 16-Hour Ride: Adorableness Follows

I love a good road trip just as much as the next guy or gal, but once you pass that eight-hour mark on the road, things start to drag just a little. Eight hours is a typical workday. Eight hours is the amount of time that people are recommended to sleep. So if you're spending eight hours in the car, that's almost an entire day, or an entire night's worth of time just spent traveling! It adds up. Plus, as a passenger, it's so hard to nap, and if you're the driver you can't nap at all.

That's why I try to keep all my road trips below the eight-hour mark– sub six if possible. Unfortunately for one poor little dog this week, their owners don't follow the same rule. They passed that eight-hour mark and then just kept on going for another whole eight hours! And the whole time in the car the dog didn't sleep a wink!

The dog's owner posted a video to Reddit this week in the r/Aww thread, so people could admire her dog's determination to be a good co-pilot and stick out the ride next to Mom. The comments section quickly filled up with funny takes about the dog's situation, great suggestions to help nervous dogs sleep on trips, and hilarious comparisons to everyday life (like one guy remarking his wife does the same thing on road trips). I Swear I’m Not Tired

This adorable dog looks nice and warm on its blue fuzzy blanket, with its little red vest on, but it can barely keep its head up! The dog's eyes keep nodding closed and it's just looking at mom with the saddest eyes, saying "Please, let me out of this car so I can sleep!" I don't blame them, I hate sleeping in the car too, but after sixteen hours I don't think I'd have this much determination. At some point, a dog's got to sleep…

Best Copilot Ever!

When I take road trips, I always try to think long and hard about who I'll bring with me, because a bad passenger can ruin a trip. If someone needs to get out to pee too much, or complains all the time, or doesn't stay awake to help entertain the driver, maybe they're not a great copilot. I can't tell you how many road trips I've taken where the passenger sleeps the whole time, and I'd REALLY rather not tell you how many times I've been that passenger... It's every time. I'm always that passenger.
